Cultural Oral History: Afrikaans Poets

Afrikaans poetry is alive and well. In 2007 during the Versindaba in Stellenbosch 35 Afrikaans poets were interviewed about the position of Afrikaans poetry in the contemporary South Africa. Poets who were interviewed range from seasoned poets like Joan Hambidge and Ampie Coetzee to debutant Bernard Odendaal. The last official interview was conducted with George Weideman before he tragically past away. The DVD was at one stage the seventh best seller in South Africa.
